Saving Your Digital Images and Why It Matters
Why Does It Matter to Save Your Digital Images in Three Different Places?
You’ve just received your beautiful gallery of images—now what? Let’s talk about why it’s so important to save those photos in three different places. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.
I can’t save all client images forever, and I’m upfront about this in all my documentation. I give clients two weeks to download and save their images on their own. After that, I archive the images for six months, during which clients can request a recovery for a small fee. After six months, the images are deleted. This is why it’s so important for you to take responsibility for saving them in multiple places—you don’t want to risk losing these irreplaceable moments!
Why One Backup Isn’t Enough
It’s tempting to save everything on your computer and call it a day, but what if your hard drive fails? Having your images saved in just one place is risky. You’ll want extra layers of security in case something happens.
Save on an External Hard Drive
One option is to store your photos on an external hard drive. It’s simple and keeps your files safe from computer crashes. Plus, you can easily take the drive with you if needed.
Cloud Storage is Key
In addition to a hard drive, save your images on a cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox. Cloud storage provides an extra layer of protection because it’s stored online and can be accessed from anywhere.
Consider a USB or Secondary Backup
A USB drive or another external storage option can be your third safety net. This ensures that if one system fails, you’ll have an extra backup. Spread them out in case one device is lost, stolen, or damaged.
Conclusion: Secure Your Memories!
Saving your digital images in three different places—like an external hard drive, cloud storage, and a USB—gives you peace of mind. These memories are irreplaceable, and protecting them is worth the effort!
If you loose your images after 6 months, it is worth messaging me. In some rare cases I may have them, but don’t count on it.
