What to wear for your studio newborn session
KEEP IT SIMPLE:
- solid colors: - no prints, no polka dots, no schwag, no large logos, etc.
- texture like denim or lace are great.

- choose similar tones: - all dark colors
- all light colors
- don’t mix dark and light colors together
- yes everyone can choose the same color if that’s easier, but definitely NOT required.

UNFLATTERING:
- no turtlenecks,
- no cap sleeves,
- no strapless tops,
- nothing oversized - this makes even small people look overweight
- nothing too tight
FLATTERING:
- V necks
- sweetheart necklines
- button downs
- polo shirts
- henley’s
WARM IN STUDIO:
- My studio is kept WARM for a newborn session 80+ degrees
- I do not suggest a sweater even in the winter
CHOOSE YOUR STYLE:
- have everyone in the same style - all casual or all dressed up but not mixed. - for example your husband is wearing a button down, I suggest you wear a dress

NO SHOES:
- I shoot from the waist up in newborn sessions. This is more complimentary to mom who’s just had a baby.
- I am a NO SHOES studio. Please remove your shoes at the door. I have young children who crawl and I aim to keep it clean for them. Also I’m Canadian and wearing your outside shoes inside is just odd to Canadians.
PANTS:
- Yes sometimes I capture the top of pants - especially on young siblings. So ensure they coordinate as well please.
PARENT & SIBLING PROP CLOSET:
- I DO have outfits for children ages 1-10 years old
- I also have shirts sizes S, L, XL for dads
- And dresses for mom’s
- all are complimentary to borrow. I just like to coordinate before your session please so I can ensure one of mine will fit you.
SEND ME PHOTOS OF WHAT YOU ARE WEARING
- I appreciate you sending me photos of what you and your family is wearing prior to the session. This way I can make suggestions.
- You can email or text them. You do not need to be wearing them, it can just be a photo of the shirt etc.
-

Please iron or steam your outfits. I cannot effectively edit out wrinkles without the clothes looking very "edited". I suggesgt you dress in something more comfortable for the car ride and get dressed in studio to avoid wrinkles.

If baby is 2 months and under, nothing is needed. I will have a wrap that will coordinate with your outfits. If you have an older baby, you can either borrow from my prop closet of bring your own. If borrowing please ensure I know so I can prep outfits!

Yes of course. Do still try to keep patterns at a minimum, but these are your photos and I want you to feel like "you" in them.
