What to Do If Your Newborn Won’t Cooperate for Their Photo Session

First—don’t stress! Babies are unpredictable, and a good newborn photographer is prepared for that. Here’s how to handle it:

  • 🍼 Feed & Burp Beforehand – A full, comfy baby is more likely to settle. If they get fussy, don’t rush—photographers expect breaks!

  • 😴 Keep It Cozy – Warm rooms and white noise can work wonders for a sleepy baby. Many photographers like myself have heaters and sound machines, among other tricks, to help.

  • 🫶 Go With the Flow – If baby doesn’t want to sleep, that’s okay! Awake shots with tiny expressions are just as precious.

  • 🕰 Take Your Time – Most sessions are designed to allow for breaks. If baby needs extra feeding, or doesn’t want to be naked, that’s okay.

  • 💡 Trust Your Photographer – I have worked with countless babies and know all the tricks. Let me guide the session! I flow with your baby that day.

  • 🤍 Embrace the Real Moments – Not every photo needs to be “perfect” especially if there is a newborn and toddler included. Sometimes, the unplanned moments turn out to be the most special.

Babies do their own thing, and that’s totally okay! A great photographer will still capture beautiful memories—fuss and all. 💕
