What if your child doesn’t cooperate during a photo shoot?

1. Embrace the Chaos

It’s normal for toddlers to have their own ideas during a photo shoot. Instead of stressing, embrace their energy. Often, the best photos are the candid ones, capturing them just as they are.

2. Go with the Flow

If your kiddo isn’t posing, don’t worry!

I try to set my lighting up so that they can explore their new sibling and still get adorable shots.

We are just aiming for your child to look at the camera, smiles are a bonus.

3. Bring Comfort Items

A favorite toy, blanket, or snack can help your toddler feel more at ease. These items can also double as cute props, adding a personal touch to the photos.

4. Take Breaks

If your toddler gets restless, short breaks can help. A quick snack, a cuddle, or a few minutes to run around can make a big difference. A relaxed toddler is more likely to cooperate.

5. Stay Calm and Patient

Patience is key. Keep a positive attitude, even if things don’t go as planned. Your calmness will help your toddler relax, leading to better photos.

When a parent gets anxious and upset at their toddler, it’s only going to go downhill from there. They will feed off your energy. Telling them they are “bad” will not get us anywhere.

6. Trust the Process

Even if your child doesn’t behave as expected, trust that your photographer will capture beautiful moments. These images are a snapshot of who your child is at this stage, and that’s what makes them special.
