Outdoor vs. Studio Photos – What’s Best for Your Child?

I’ve been in Seattle almost 3 years now, and it's been so fun watching the little ones I first photographed grow up! If you’re torn between an outdoor shoot or something indoors, here’s the quick lowdown:

Outdoor sessions are awesome if you want that golden sunlight, playful energy, and natural smiles.

  • Perfect for toddlers and older kids who love to run around.

  • Best in spring, summer, or fall when the weather’s nice.

  • Great if you want a variety of backdrops—parks, fields, cute city spots.

Studio sessions are ideal when you’re going for cozy, clean, and timeless.

  • Best for newborns and babies (especially under one year).

  • A solid option when it’s cold or rainy out.

  • You’ll get that classic, minimal look—no distractions.

Think about your little one’s vibe. Are they wild and free? Let’s head outside. More chill or weather-sensitive? The studio’s perfect. Either way, we’ll get sweet, beautiful photos you’ll treasure.
