Maternity Photos: How to Coordinate Light and Dark Outfits

Coordinating Partner & Kids Outfits When Mom Wears Both a Light and Dark Tone

  • Mom’s palette: deep and light hues.

  • Everyone else: choose complementary shades in the same family.

  • Solids over prints: keep pieces solid to create a clean, timeless look. If one person has a pattern - younger sibling is okay.

  • Add texture, no patterns: knits, lace, ribbing, and layered fabrics are great— NO florals, stripes, polka dots, and logos.

  • Coordinate, don’t match: no identical outfits (please don’t put everyone in the same black shirt).
