What to Wear For a Studio Maternity Session For Your Partner and Children

How to coordinate your partner and children’s outfits for your maternity session.

It’s very similar to how I suggest to dress for other studio sessions, HERE.

How to coordinate:

  • Start first with the outfit expecting mom is going to wear.

  • Then choose the similar color palette and tones for your partner or children.

  • Stick to solid colors.

  • Texture is fine (lace, layer fabrics etc.) but avoid patterns.

  • No florals, no strips, no polka dots etc.

  • I prefer you coordinate instead of “match”. For example choose ivories, whites, beige, light pink as the palette. Do NOT have everyone in the same white shirt.

Here is a great example of how to coordinate and not match your ourfits.

  • Similarly if your dress is in a darker color, you would all want the rest of the subjects in the photo in a similar tone as well.

Other info:

  • pants should be in a similar color to your top.

  • shoes are optional. If you are bringing in shoes, make sure they are cleaned for the studio.
