outfits for your studio session

Are you unsure about what to wear for a photo session in a studio? Let me help!

Why do I suggest plain colors and everyone in similar colors for your studio portrait session?

  • We want the people to be the star of the show, NOT your clothing. Clothing can be a very big distraction to what we ultimately want people to looking at - the subjects! We want to see you, or your baby, belly, toddler, newborn etc.

  • For example if the entire family was in white, and one person was in bright orange, who do you think the viewer would look at first? Yes, that person in yellow.

WHAT TO WEAR TIPS:

  • choose solid colors

  • when in doubt everyone in the same color works just fine

  • Do not use competing tones

    • I don’t want to see a navy blue, and a light ivory. Or light grey and black. Dark color with dark colors and light colors with light colors please.

  • No prints, no swag, no large logos, etc on your outfits

  • Texture like lace, denim, knit, etc are great.

OUTSIDE PHOTOS
Yes this would be different if you were being photographed outside. This is specific to studio sessions.

HAPPY TO HELP
I actually prefer that my clients send me photos of what they are planning so I can make suggestions BEFORE they arrive in studio. So I know you will look your best.
