How to Capture Your Baby’s First Year

Your baby’s first year is full of so many precious moments and milestones—it truly flies by! As a newborn photographer (and a mom!), I know how special it is to freeze those memories in time. Here’s how you can beautifully document your baby’s incredible first year.

1. Start with Newborn Photos

Those first few weeks are unlike any other. Capturing your baby when they’re still tiny, sleepy, and brand new is such a treasure. A professional newborn session is the perfect way to start your baby’s story.

2. Document Monthly Milestones

Every month brings something new—smiles, rolling over, sitting up! Take a quick photo in the same spot or with the same prop each month to watch how much they grow. It’s fun to look back on later (and it makes for an adorable keepsake!).

3. Schedule Milestone Sessions

Think of these as the “big moments” photoshoots: tummy time at 3-4 months, sitting up at 6-7 months, and standing or walking around their first birthday. These sessions capture your baby’s personality as it blossoms.

4. Capture Everyday Moments

Don’t forget about the little things—the way they hold your finger, their messy mealtime faces, or those sweet giggles during playtime. These candid snapshots are just as meaningful as the big milestones.

5. Celebrate the First Birthday with a Smash Cake Session

The grand finale of the first year! A cake smash session is a fun and messy way to celebrate this big milestone. Whether it’s smiles, giggles, or curiosity, we’ll capture all the joy of the moment.

Your baby’s first year is full of magic, and it deserves to be remembered. Let’s make sure those moments last a lifetime!
