What to expect at your newborn session?

Your posed newborn session will take at least 3 hours.

  • I do not rush babies. I will go slowly to move your baby from one pose to the next as comfortably as possible. Posing takes time and lots of patience.

Do not schedule anything 2 hours after your appointment

  • I have had sessions go longer than 3 hours when I get a fussy baby, so do allow for extra time at no additional charge.

  • Please ensure your newborn appointments are not on the same day as your newborn session.

How do I minimize baby’s fussiness during my session?

I will spend time soothing your baby.

  • Some babies are gassy, unsettled, or just fussy. This is 100% normal. I will spend a lot of time soothing your little one to gently coax them into poses.

  • I have many tools to sooth and keep your newborn comfortable. Including; heat, white noise, pacifier, gentle rocking, and a lull-a-vibe among others.

  • Sit back and relax. Don’t worry, I'll ask for help when I need it and chat with you throughout the session.

Baby will be more hungry than usual.

  • Please bring AT LEAST double the amount of food baby would normally eat.

  • Baby’s need to have full tummies to be comfortable. We often refer to this as ‘milk drunk’.

Poses captured depend on your newborn.

  • Please come with an open mind and be flexible, not with a list of images you need.

  • It’s easier on your baby when I am able to flow with what they want to do in session. I promise I will get a beautiful gallery of images for you.

  • Please understand that babies might behave differently during the session than at home. This is also normal.

What happens if my baby won’t settle?

  • Your baby will be wrapped and be photographed wrapped.

  • Babies are used to the tight space in mom’s belly, and wrapping them makes them feel more secure and comfortable.

  • Even if your baby is calm, there is a wrapped portion of each session.

Every baby does things their own way

  • Some babies might frown in all their photos, and some won’t. This is normal and it makes your baby unique.
